What is a cold run in crash games? How long they last

Half of all rounds end under 2×. Here is what the runs really look like when you record every one.

Six rounds under 2× in a row and the chat fills up. Is that a long run or a normal Tuesday? We record every round across 11 crash games, so here is what cold runs actually look like — from 65,769 of them.

Most rounds end low

  • 51.4%of rounds end under 2×
  • 1.94×median round
  • 9.7%reach 10×
  • 0.94%reach 100×

That shape is the game itself. A crash game that paid over 2× more often than not would not be a business, so half your rounds ending below it is the normal state — which means a “cold run” of three or four is not a run at all.

Provably fair, explained

Crash games are provably fair: each round's multiplier comes from a seed committed before the round starts, and you can check it yourself afterwards. Every round is settled on its own, which is exactly why long runs are so rare — and why a run of ten is worth seeing when it happens.

It also means a cold run is a clean record of what happened, round by round. That is what our board shows: each run with the rounds behind it, so you can see exactly where it stands against the 65,769 rounds above.
